Somerset Health and Wellbeing Advisory Network
Helping you to help others
The NHS have begun inviting eligible people aged 75 and over and those who are immunosuppressed to come forward to book their Spring booster jabs. More than nine in 10 people aged 75 came forward for their first booster and recent research from the UK Health Security Agency has shown that the NHS booster programme has helped prevent around 157,000 hospitalisations since mid-December.
Those eligible should arrange a jab through the national booking service when invited. Booking can be accessed online at nhs.uk/covidvaccine or by calling 119.
The Spring boosters will top up the protection of the elderly and the most vulnerable in our community against severe illness from Covid-19, please do all you can to encourage uptake.

SARCs Resources Available
The Survivors of Sexual Assault & Abuse (SARCs) is a campaign to raise awareness of sexual assault referral centres and specialist NHS services, that offer practical, medical and emotional support 24/7 to anyone who has been raped, sexually assaulted or abused. The campaign aims to highlight these vital NHS support services.
New data published from an England wide survey reveals that over half of respondents (56%) who have been sexually assaulted or abused did not seek help from any organisation or service after the incident.
If you or someone you know has been raped, sexually assaulted or abused and don't know where to turn, search ‘sexual assault referral centres’ to find out more or head to www.nhs.uk/SARCs to find your nearest service.

Please share this information and the campaign resources available with your networks.

Funding To Boost Somerset Business Recovery
Somerset County Council has launched a second round of the Somerset Restart and Recovery Programme to support strategically significant businesses badly affected by Covid-19 and successive lockdowns.
These could be organisations that often did not fit neatly into Government Covid support programmes such as multi-purpose venues, heritage attractions, and food/craft events showcasing local produce that attract local people as well as visitors. Other businesses may be considered if they have wider economic benefits.
Up to £50,000 will be available to anchor events and organisations that are fundamental to the success of other businesses in the wider economy. As there is a limited amount of funding available (£370,000) this will be a competitive process.
The fund opened for applications on 22 March 2022 with a deadline of noon on 4 April 2022.

ENDS SOON! Somerset Food Resilience Grant

The funds can be used in many ways and there is no fixed list of things we will fund but are here to support your local needs, ideas and solutions as every community is different. The grant aims to support organisations and groups to build resilience for the future.

There are 12,000 places available, across more than 70 venues offering a wide range of activities from kayaking to music workshops, swimming, climbing and much more.
Parents need to get a code from their school in order to book the activities. All details on what’s on offer, the locations of holiday clubs and days operating can be found by clicking on the button below.
